Mosques Of Manisa, Turkey

Manisa is a small town in Turkey, about an hour or so north of Izmir. Smack in the center of the town are a couple of old, historic mosques worth a visit.

Here's the Sultan Mosque, an Ottoman cupcake from the 1500s.

And the elegant interior of the Sultan Mosque.

A five minute walk from the Sultan Mosque stands the mighty Muradiye Mosque, also a 1500s-era Ottoman structure. Bigger and prouder.

Inside views, a bit of a blue theme.

In front of the Muradiye Mosque, a bust to the influential architect and engineer, Mimar Sinan. The learned dude designed many mosques for the various sultans. Nice work!

Mmm, The Medical Museum In Manisa, Turkey

There's a nice, little museum in Manisa, dedicated to the history of medicine in that area of Turkey. Whatever, bring on the mannequins.

The Dr doll will see you now. "What can I write for you today?"

Olde time care, simple comfort, frightening potions. Pick your poison.

Eye-eee! Maybe best to do no harm. Bloody hell.

Tools of the trade. Rough. Maybe the best medicine is having some musicians come over and kick out the jams.

The dioramas were impressive, right down to the prone feet.
