Jacob Dahlgren's Wonderful World Of Abstraction At Helsinki's Kiasma

The Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki has lots of interesting, fun works that challenge the concept of traditional art. One of the more interesting pieces is by artist Jacob Dahlgren. He does a variety of things with primary colors and basic shapes, from textiles to placards, transforming everyday objects into abstractions.

For his piece at Kiasma, Dahlgren took fabric and created a cube.

You can stand and look at it or....

...interact with it! A brilliant play on color, space and changing perception. Or a fun experience drifting through fabric. The piece seems simple, but it was quite a project to build. Don't believe it? Watch the making-of video.

  1. The dangling colors kinda suck you into to wanting to touch, don't they. It's like a giant cubed jellyfish, without the sting.
