Church of Santa Maria dels Turers, Banyoles, Spain

There's a lovely little lakeside church in Banyoles, Spain. Set on a hill, woods and rolling greens surround the property. Time to wander over for a closer look.

The stately church.

Inside, an unadorned central nave. Around the side, a small mausoleum space.

Plenty of patina, begetting a church that's been around since about 1017.

A nice touch, family photographs on niches of the mausoleum.

Everyone is welcome.

Lakeside In Banyoles, Spain

Banyoles is a pleasant enough small town in Northeast Spain. Its main feature is a central lake, good for boating, summer swimming and a waterside hike. Let's get walking.

Boats in the offseason, waiting in winter.

Wacky boathouse and door. No comment on human.

Seasonal solitude at a school basketball court and a lake viewpoint.

Life is a throwback in Banyoles. Or are they ahead of the rest of us in going green?
