The Expressive Mannequins At The Hoi An Heritage Museum

There's a nice little museum in Hoi An dedicated to traditional crafts and industries, a place that gives you a good look at life in the town from way back when. Think agriculture, textiles, maybe a dabble in silkworms.

To illustrate certain events, the museum uses mannequins. Not just re-purposed clothing store blank stares, these figures bring the look.

Tailor.

Oozing Vietnamese attitude.

The Super Central Market In Hoi Ann

You want fresh veggies, meat, noodles, everything? Head to Hoi An's Central Market, still the place in town to get what you need for the day's meal.

Nice shed, iconic.

Outside, the vegetable ladies displaying their best. Inside, various stalls serving counter-side fast lunch..

Nasty live crabs, tied up with strips of old clothing.

The noodle seller. Cash on the counter for meat.

In the seafood section, the flag proudly flies, on and on.

The humble exterior.

The highlight of the inside, the open air courtyard.

Altar area and classic Chinese porcelain.

Sleeping area. Another glimpse at the inner courtyard, showing the nice second story railing.

History on the wall.

The Atmospheric Ruins Of Mỹ Sơn Near Hoi An, Vietnam

Mỹ Sơn is a nice collection of Hindu temples, dating to the 4th to 14th century AD, give or take a billion years. No matter the time of construction, the temples in heavy disrepair have a nice ominous jungle quality, while the more intact temples hint at how intricate architecture once was. The temple theme is Shiva worship.

The area has a teenie weenie Angkor feel to it, with an added splash of lush, overgrown jungle. A rainy day helps with the mystical atmosphere

The jungle, taking over.
