Rolling Out The Parking Lot In Kaohsiung
Say you've bought a building or two that should be torn down. Maybe you have big plans for a new apartment house, whatever. In the meantime, just clear the space and roll out a parking lot. Kaohsiung seems to have a suspicious amount of carved out parking lots, butting right up to the neighbors.
Like a wash of pavement crept in. A wall, some graffiti, a nod to Jeff koons.
More lots, open and now closed and abandoned.
Still more lots in Kaohsiung. So much land clearing, so many lots created.
Typical lot, all nestled in.

Sometimes you cleared the land, got pressure or cold feet and started a little park instead.
More lots, open and now closed and abandoned.
Abstract view.
Still more lots in Kaohsiung. So much land clearing, so many lots created.
Screw it, just make the lot an outdoor lounge spot instead. Score one for people over cars.

Parking A Lot In Denver
For all the tall buildings that fill downtown Denver, there's an equal number of flat parking lots. The town is filled with them, block after scattered block of undeveloped land that's making time (and money) as a parking lot. The big buildings might get the aesthetic attention, but the lowly parking lots have their own architecture.
No free lunch, no free parking.
Parking inside, parking outside.
A clean-looking lot (minus the haphazard trashcan).
A rare species, the manned lot. Parking lot, double-gated.
The parking plain meets the Rocky city.
The parking pay kiosk is your chance to differentiate your lot from the other lots.
Break away from the pack! Go square!
