Neighborhood Temple Tank, Mumbai

Where there's any substantial Hindu temple, there's bound to be a nearby tank. It's kind of a square, stepped resevoir, used a few times a year for ceremonies. A temple tank.

Here's one, tucked into a residential neighborhood in Mumbai. You don't usually swim in the tank, but it can be a center of other activities.

That's the humble temple nearby, the tower in the back. Laundry day, might as well string a line across one of the paths leading down to the tank.

And might as well go ahead and do your laundry on the wide expanse around the tank.

A quiet corner reserved for little alter icons. A graphic take on the endless steps that surround the tank.

A kid's life and a lovely shot taken by Sarah.
