Jonas Maironis Museum And Residence, Kaunas

During our visit to Kaunas, we got a private tour of a museum devoted to one of Lithuania's most famous and beloved poets, Jonas Maironis (1862-1932). The museum is located in one of Maironis' homes. Maironis was a Roman Catholic priest, whose poetry reflects the hopes of the Lithuanian people as they fought for independence. His image is even featured on the 20 Lita note.

The house has been restored to give visitors a sense what it looked like when Maironis made his home there in the early 20th century.

Sarah, taking a peek.
