Lighting It Up At Mulu Caves

You think those caves get their moody look organically? No one is seeing anything unless someone brings in some illumination. Blasting light is easy. Making it look natural, tricky.

The usual gag is to hide the lights, stick them in crevices, build a little rock baffle, bury the source. They do a good job at Mulu. A little concentration with the camera at the light sources produces some abstract, eerie images.

Oops. Sometimes a lamp is clearly a lamp.
