One of the most popular attractions in Hanoi is the Temple of Literature, located in the center of the old section of town. It's easy to see why, the complex is an ancient throwback, a respite area in a hectic city. It includes a temple of Confucius and an Imperial academy, Vietnam's first university.

Outside the main temple. Turtle stelae. The turtle is one of the holy animals of Vietnam and the stelae lists the names of some of the graduate doctors. There are 82 stelae in neat rows around a courtyard.
