The most celebrated Buddhist temple in Mandalay and most of Myanmar is Mahamuni. It purportedly contains one of only five true likenesses of Buddha in the world. For this honor, special attention is heaped.
The grand temple, in perfect shape, square and otherwise.
Worshippers lining up in a corridor that leads to the main Buddha statue. The place is revered and people come all dressed up for their own ceremonies.
The complex is so popular that the temple needs to live feed the Buddha statue to many areas so people can witness the proceedings.
The attraction? Buddha can only be visited by men and those men are busy giving offerings in the form of gold leaf squares. They march up and lay on the leaf. It's all there to see in the monitors. Buddha is literally dripping in gold.
Cuteness, maxed.
