The Magnificent Synagogues of Izmir, Part Two

Continuing the tour of the grand synagogues of Izmir. More interesting stops, details, history.

Interior of the Etz Hayim synagogue. It's a nice balance of preservation and patina.
Bench seating detail at Etz Hayim. "What number do you have on your high holiday ticket?" Stacks of tallits, prayer shawls at the Algazi synagogue.

Some synagogues have been restored and now re-purposed. The interior of the Portuguese synagogue, which is now used for cultural events.

Part of the Etz Hayim synagogue is now an art gallery. Ark detail at the La Signora synagogue.

Visiting the synagogues never gets old, mainly due to the anticipation of seeing another, unique architectural wonder. The lovely Bikur Holim snyagogue.
