Ko'kaldosh Madrasasi And Hoja Ahror Valiy Mosque

Tashkent isn't blessed with the Silk Road ancient treasures found in Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. Thanks to a major earthquake in 1966 and the Soviet desire to use that disaster as a chance to remake the city, Tashkent is mostly concrete apartments and wide boulevards.

A handful of holy sites dot the area, especially in the old section of town.

Here's the front of Ko'kaldosh madrasasi, a building dating to the 16th century.

Inside courtyard of the madrasa, classic Silk Road design.

Next door to the madrasa is the Hoja Ahror Valiy mosque, modern in vintage.

Nice dome inside.

Also, nice rug for holy snoozing.
