Rural Buddhist Wats In Thailand

Wats, temple complexes, monasteries, are everywhere in Thailand, not just in big cities and centers of towns. Wander any distance in among the rice fields and you're bound to run into a familiar golden painted complex.

Out in the sticks, a humble temple. Wat Norasing.

Over at Wat Amphawan, they keep things clean and the trees in their place. Wat housing. Nice touch, all the brooms upended in potted plant style.

Main stuppa restoration. All quiet at the rural Wat.

Colorful celebrations of life and death. Costumes hanging for drying and nicely tiled memorial stupas.

An exit, to pure nature. Rural, indeed.
