Wat Pho

Wat Pho is one of the biggest temples in Bangkok and is also just as tricked out with glam tile and metal work as the nearby Grand Palace. More than a thousand images of Buddha fill the complex, which consists of several courtyards and plazas. And then there's that one special Buddha....

Wat Pho from the busy streets of Bangkok.

Once inside, a meander through the dizzying towers.

Gold leaf, bejeweled tile work -- all the norm when building a fancy Wat. Hey, who's peeking out from behind those columns?
Ah, the big boy, the major Buddha, the one that brings in the crowds. The impressive recliner, all 43 meters in length. We saw a similar reclining Buddha in Malaysia but, as it now turns out, he was pee-wee league compared the this heavy in Bangkok. Impressive!

More doorways leading to more courtyards. There's no shortage of Buddhas, all decked out in fresh orange wraps.
