Threshing In Ethiopia

Northern Ethiopia is rich in grain. When it's time to harvest the crop, it's a local job to do the processing. Forget harvesters, train cars and grain elevators. Bring on the livestock, time to get threshing.

It's a simple operation. Get your cows, oxen, any powerful animals, to walk circles over your crop on a hard surface to pound the grain from the chaff. Sweep and repeat.

Prepping the crop.

Let the threshing begin.

Moving the crop to the threshing areas. The muscle behind the operation.

Pausing for a portrait.
