Summer In The Lithuanian Countryside

When the heatwave hits, time to head out of the city and explore the countryside. In Lithuania, it means a temp above 80º and maybe an hour's drive out of Vilnius.

What to see? Mostly fields of grain, livestock and lots of power lines.

Where are we? Right. Vernacular sights, a country house and wood totem.

Hello goat.

An iconic feature of the countryside is the mighty stork - Lithuania's national bird. Nests are everywhere, from single family to large condo, depending on support structure.

More common features, lakes and bee hives.

Pretty things, flowers and cows.

The harvest comes early. Hay, ready for pick up.
