Rasos Cemetery, Vilnius

Vilnius is full of impressive cemeteries, like this one here. Among the more famous ones is Rasos cemetery. It's the oldest in the city and, of course, lots of famous people are buried there. Wander the grounds and you'll find the graves of writers, artists and plenty of esteemed professors from Vilnius University. The place to be seen, forever.

A highlight? The famous artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis is buried there, along with his family.

Central church.

No shortage of heavily carved, appropriately titled, head stones.

Family grave of Čiurlionis.

Hotshot Vilnius professors are in abundance, looking confident beyond the grave.

Legitimate Olde Timey writing.

Ephemeral religious figures.

Sign of past conflicts. Polish graves of soldiers killed during Polish, Soviet and Lithuanian battles after WWI.

From The Flight Deck At Schiphol Airport

The Amsterdam airport has a throwback feature rarely seen in our security conscious world, an outdoor observation area. Come watch KLM.

"Who parked their plane at the wrong gate again?"

Plane peeping.

A little quiet time in the shadow of the control tower.

Making phone calls where you can find a spot.

Huge beer available.

Random Looks At Amsterdam

Wandering the town, finding a little life, still and otherwise, along the streets.

Sitting for a portrait. And lunch. And milk.

Postmodern houseboat. Why?

Fries are a big deal. Not a hard sell.

Drinking is also big, the previous night's proof left on the sidewalk. And then there's cheese.

Lobby still life.

Graffiti In Amsterdam

European cities have all sorts of graffiti. Some here. And some here. Amsterdam has a bit of a clampdown on runaway spraying and a lot of graffiti art is relegated to stickers. No matter, it's the creative message that is the medium.

Mickey as biohazard.

Triumph through Coca Cola. WWJD? Indeed.

Call 'em, smoke 'em and then stop talking.

Peace through pain. A nice collage of mixed messages. Nothing to say, Frida to do it, acne to worry about.

Horse diver.

Tooling Among The Tulips In Amsterdam

Besides going to the tulip temple called Keukenhof, you can rent a bike (or grab your own bike) and ride the myriad pathways that glide through tulip fields. Pastures of colorful plenty.

A fantastic carpet ride.

A non-tulip detour, little lambs in someone's front yard. Seeing the North Sea.

Warehouse.

More varieties and green houses.

Tulips along the horizon.
