The Former Military Community Of Guomao In Kaohsiung

The Guomao community started out in the 1960s as a large village for military dependents and eventually everyone was relocated to swanky high rise apartment buildings in the 1980s. What makes the neighborhood interesting is the style of the buildings and the unique makeup of its inhabitants.

One of the iconic buildings. Curvy.

A leftist, communist hint to the housing scheme. Within the concrete jungle, dreaming of nature on a utility box.

The set of curved apartment buildings offers an ever changing view of building perspective.

For the inhabitants, still a traditional way of life, markets in the street and ground floor spaces.

Heavy patina from the community has transformed the blank public spaces.
