Abandoned Kaohsiung

For a city of 2.7 million people, the town can feel awfully lonely, especially for an Asian city. Bangkok, Tokyo, Saigon, anyplace in India, always packed. Kaohsiung, abandoned.

For a photographer, the eerie stillness offered its own beauty.

Urban park, apartment buildings, empty.

More views, still no people.

Kaohsiung's main central park, severely underused.

Parking lot, cars give themselves some orderly space. Old railroad yard, turned into a park, waiting for life.

A wall of apartment buildings in a suburban area of town.
