Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

Sultan Qaboos is the present leader of Oman and has been in power for more than 40 years. He's the driving force in bringing modernity to Oman. No building is a more powerful statement to Oman's wealth and growing economy than the Grand Mosque built in Muscat in 2001.

The impressive, beautiful Grand Mosque.

The entrance to the compound and a detail of the fine tile work.
The interior of the main prayer hall. How big? Capacity of approximately 20,000 people, a rug and center chandelier that claim to be the second biggest in the world.

The architecture is cool, clean, sublime.

Students are busy touring the complex.

A couple more details of the elaborate finishing work.
Sarah, donning a borrowed burka and trying respectfully to blend in.
