Muttrah Souk

Muscat, like a lot of Mid-East cities, has an old souk, a shopping arcade full of winding alleys and heavy atmosphere. The feel of the place doesn't approach the ancient look of classic souks across the Magreb, especially Morocco, but the souk is worth a stroll.

The main area of the Muttrah souk, a permanently enclosed pathway dotted with stained glass-topped rotundas.

A typical shop, selling local housewares. Young, inanimate model.

Sarah, getting her jewelry itch scratched. A regular to the souk.
Down another alley.

Lots of everyday consumer goods are for sale, including this impressive display, maxing out the chance to show all of the inventory. Who knew the Utz girl has an Omani cousin?
