Daily Pondicherry

While Pondicherry is touted as a weekend getaway destination, it's a real town with the daily rhythms of life. Tucked behind hotels, the beach promenade and French architecture are people doing what they do in India: staying busy.

Up in the morning and making the daily Kolam, a rice flour drawing that's a gift for prosperity. An impressive finished product.

Dropping the kiddies at school. A woman on her way to the big Ashram in town, Sri Aurobindo.

Moving chairs. Unmoving dog.

The rickshaw men, waiting for a customer. Daily life can be exhausting, time for a french fry break, complete with penguin ketchup dispenser.

  1. This was one of Mark's favorite places in India! Is that bird ketchup I see? Cute.
