Taman Tirtagangga Water Palace

Nestled in a small town in northeast Bali sits the fantastical water palace called Tirtagangga. It looks ancient and was built by Karangasem royalty, but the complex only dates to 1946. It seems the last raja of the family, Anak Agung Anglurah, was nuts for a water show. So a show he built.

The centerpiece is an 11-tiered fountain spilling into multiple pools dotted with steps and sculptures.  There are other pools, lots of foliage and mysterious corner gates.

Sarah, cuddling up to a crazy man-dragon. Those are some serious double-jointed legs, ouch! A little gazebo in a fish pond.

Another pond, more of the lily persuasion. Sarah taking the one way stone maze through the main fountain.
