Shopping The Shilin Night Market

Once the sun dips down, the street markets come alive in Taipei. The biggest and oldest market is Shilin, around since 1910. It's a packed area of stores and places to eat, grab clothing or some soup, and to socialize.

Before you eat, first wander around and shop. A typical busy street.

Maybe get acupuncture? The mind read? Maybe the rubber chicken knows what's going on?

A noirish arcade. We love the refrigerator hiding among the machines.

It all depends what you're after. This guy is giving a broom beat-down massage and getting paid for it. Ah, what will the youth of today think is cool? A teenager dressed like an extra from the 1979 James Bond movie Moonraker?
