Towers Of Power

KL is perhaps best known for its mascot -- the Petronas Twin Towers.  Built in the 1990s for the headquarters of Malaysian state-owned oil company, Petronas, the towers are among the tallest buildings in the world.  Designed by Argentinian architect Cesar Pelli, the Petronas Towers transformed the city's skyline.  Images of them are everywhere: on TV touting conferences, on billboard advertising that boasts how great your view of them will be if you buy a condo there, on plastic bags at a candy shop.







Their reputation is well deserved.
We can see them from our hotel room window (the pic below) -- and they're stunning: like gorgeous silver candlesticks with fancy layer-cake tops that light up almost magically at night.
