Chasing The Almighty Trekker

Why walk when you can trek? Why sell stuff for ho-hum hiking, when you can outfit for trekking? No doubt, the major reason to come to Nepal is to have some sort of Himalayan experience, from reaching the summit of Everest to buying a postcard of the famous range in the airport.

No matter what your mountain plans, you usually start in Kathmandu. All air service radiates from the capital and there are tons of travel agents ready to book your adventure. And then there's the pile of stuff you need. Stand in Thamel, throw a stick (walking?) and you'll hit a sleeping bag. Here are some of the choices along a random five-minute walk (we mean trek).
