High Tea In Coonoor, Pt 1

What's an old British hill station without tea? Not just drinking, but growing. And as proof, there are fields and fields of the fine crop in the surrounding area. The altitude is perfect for tea plantations and the bucolic nature of the crop is a bonus for tourism. Wander through the beautiful fields, retire to your clubby hotel and settle in for some afternoon tea.

A typical tea field. The new leaves (light green in color) are picked off the bushes year round.

Squint and you could be in Tuscany with tea. A woman fertilizing a field.

A portrait of more field workers. Another field, all divided up like a chia pet by different types of tea.

Hi tea!
