Outside of Pokhara due south, sitting waaay atop a ridge overlooking Phewa Tal and beyond, sits the impressive World Peace Pagoda. It's a bit of a hike to the top, but the nice exercise pays off with a great view and a little dose of peace propaganda.
The pagoda, shining bright, a cross between a Buddhist stupa and Deco beacon. The design in abstract detail.
A bust of the man behind the Peace Pagoda project, Japanese Buddhist Nichidatsu Fujii. Praying you'll enjoy the site. The sparkling view from the ridge top.
The place is popular for photo snapping, not just of the pagoda or the view. Women getting their pictures taken by other women, red sweaters optional. One of the gilded Buddhas decorating the pagoda.
