Giving To The Gods

At any Hindu temple, there are plenty of opportunities to pray to the gods and ask for the granting of a wish. One common example of wish expression is the act of coconut pooja. You get a coconut, always available at temples, take it to a certain place at the temple, crack it open, fill it with ghee (clarified butter) light it up and pray.

The significance? The coconut represents your hard heart that contains your wish. By splitting the coconut open and lighting it, you cause its insides to melt away, representing your heart's problems softening and getting released. Nifty.

This way for coconut devotion. The coconut man, a temple staple.

Time for praying and splitting the coconut.
