The Shopkeeper Is Not In

Obviously, in a country with more than a billion people, there's plenty of "make work" to go around. A typical store will have five employees follow you around, carry your purchases, write up a ticket, handle the cash register, etc...

Head out to a small town and suddenly the small-time shopkeepers would rather drift away down the block to socialize than man their establishment. It made for a few nice still lifes.

The lumber shops seemed to be ripe for the trusting. Maybe the mean table saws act as an old-school deterrent.

Another lumber shop and the lonely, little repair shack, all sans the owner.
