Jizo-in (Bamboo) temple, Kyoto

Way out in the western sticks sits one of the more serene temples Kyoto has to offer. The complex is fairly modest, a main hall and outer temple, dating to the 14th century. It's the setting that gives the place its nickname and what makes it special.

The entrance - like entering a fairytale of bamboo. Looking out from the outer temple to the gate to the main hall - as calm as can be.

The nicely dappled temple and a peek inside.
The bamboo? The star of the place, an endless grove of beautiful blue, perfect for a backdrop. Hi Sarah!
