Facing The Pollution Problem In Kathmandu

Kathmandu is in a natural bowl, surrounded by mountains that trap dust and cause the city to live under a literal cloud of pollution. Living there means irritation and coping with sore throats. What to do? Look like you're on your way to surgery.

Maybe you're a monk, busy doing your rounds of prayer wheel spinning or just a typical woman out and about.

Feeding birds? Don a mask. Even the natty dressers need to cover up.

Maybe lighting a zillion candles isn't the best idea if you're already feeling a bit irritated?
