Panauti is a small town in the hills east of Kathmandu that's famous for its tranquil ghat at the confluence of the Punyamati and Roshi streams. There's a laid back feel to the place, nestled up in the hills and not crowded like other villages in Nepal.
The town, looking a bit like a storybook oasis. The ghats, defined as a series of steps leading down to water, used for bathing, etc. Sounds good to us.
Let the bathing begin, at least for clothes. Laundry day was in full force; women with curious kids in tow.
A welcome sign with a nice little image of a nearby temple. A suspension bridge over one of the streams.
