St. John's Church, Kolkata

One of the oldest churches in Kolkata is St John's, built by the East India Company in 1787. it was one of the company's first public buildings in Kolkata, presumably erected to keep their employees from getting into trouble over the weekend.

The modest scale. The church is located within a graveyard, giving it some valuable open space in crowded Kolkata.

The classic interior, save for the fans, a needed addition to try to stem the heat.

A back entryway with a typical Indian event happening - trash burning.
